  • Masters in Education, Specializing in Community and Adult Education through the University of Calgary

After starting my higher education as a mature student (40 years old), I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Physiology and Psychology and obtained the Gold Medal.     This gave me the opportunity of a full scholarship into a PhD program in Biomedical Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Five years later I had successfully obtained my PhD but I had skipped the Masters level.   I spent 3 years as a Post Doctorate Fellow within the University Health Network / University of Toronto before launching a teaching career.   I moved into faculty development and then into administration.  I grabbed at taking any courses/workshops that I could regarding teaching and learning in higher education so I could improve my teaching and be able to assist others in their teaching.   Having always felt as if I was missing a coherent course of study and wanting to connect with other educators, I enrolled in the Masters program (56 years old).  This 2-year course-based, blended format allowed me to explore, learn, discover, reflect, and connect.     The final course finishes in June, 2015 and I hope to graduate in the fall.
